Selldone Review: A No-Plugin Shopify Alternative (Our Honest Take)
Every Shopify seller knows the plugin trap. You pay $29 a month for Shopify, then $10 for reviews, $15 for subscriptions, $20 for loyalty, and suddenly your bill is $150+ before you sell anything.
Selldone bundles all of that into one platform for a lifetime price. But the transaction fees change the math.
What Selldone does
Selldone is a no code ecommerce operating system. Instead of installing plugins, everything is built in:
- Physical, digital, subscription, and service products
- Built in POS with barcode scanner
- 143+ currencies supported
- CMS, blog, and A/B testing
- Gift cards, cashback, gamification
- Affiliate programs
- Multi language, multi store
- Genesis AI (Claude powered)
AppSumo pricing tiers
| Tier | Price | Limits | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | $109 once | 1 store, 100 GB, 7% digital fee | Physical product sellers |
| Tier 3 | $409 once | 3 stores, 300 GB, 3% digital fee | Digital product sellers |
| Tier 7 | $549 once | 7 stores, 300 GB each | Multi brand ecommerce |
Read the transaction fees: Tier 1 charges 7% on digital products (1% on physical). If you sell digital, upgrade to Tier 3 to drop it to 3%. This is not “no ongoing cost.”
What real users are saying
Selldone has strong scores across the board. 4.8 stars from 92 AppSumo reviews (AppSumo), 4.8 stars from 84 G2 reviews (G2), and 4.7 stars from 88 Trustpilot reviews (Trustpilot).
The praise is deep. Reviewer Bosch_BastiaanPLUS wrote: “Selldone is the most amazing SaaS I have seen. Want to create your own Amazon like marketplace? It is in there.” Founder Alireza personally takes demo calls, which is unusual.
But not everyone stayed. DeniseWPLUS refunded because Selldone did not support US city and zip level sales tax. That has since been partly addressed with a new Stripe Tax integration.
A r/SaaS thread raised a fair question about the small review pool. On Trustpilot, a negative reviewer flagged “poor response times, ignored inquiries, and non functional features.”
How fast $109 pays off
Here is what Selldone saves you compared to Shopify Basic at $29 a month plus $50 in apps:
| Timeframe | Shopify + apps | Selldone | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 year | $948 | $109 | +$839 |
| 3 years | $2,844 | $109 | +$2,735 |
| 5 years | $4,740 | $109 | +$4,631 |
You break even in about 6 weeks. Everything after that is savings.
The good and the bad
- Genuinely no plugins needed for a full ecommerce stack

- 143 currencies including exotic ones for international sellers
- Built in POS with barcode scanner for hybrid businesses
- 4.8 stars across three independent platforms
- 7% digital product transaction fee on Tier 1 and 2 stacks fast
- US local sales tax (city or zip level) is limited
- Smaller ecosystem than Shopify (fewer power users)
- Some Trustpilot users report ignored support tickets
- Independent Reddit users questioned whether the review pool is real
How Selldone compares
| Tool | Price | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Selldone | $109 once | Physical DTC, agencies | 7% digital fee on Tier 1 |
| Shopify | $29 to $299/mo | Big ecosystem, growing brands | App bill piles up fast |
| Wix eCommerce | $27 to $59/mo | All in one small business | Weaker for larger catalogs |
| Square Online | $0 to $79/mo | Retail with POS | Very limited theming |
Bottom line
Selldone is the real deal as a no plugin ecommerce platform, and the founder is one of the most accessible we have seen on AppSumo.
Buy Tier 3 or 4 if you are serious about digital products. Buy Tier 1 if you sell mostly physical goods. Test in the 60 day window with real products and real customers before you commit.
